The way jimin presents is much more obviously queer than any other member (purely based on mannerisms, cause if you hear joon or yoongi talking about love for a few minutes you can put two and two together). And his overt queerness makes a lot of cis hetero shippers (or kpop fans ) uncomfortable because they're forced to confront their internalized homophobia and misogyny head on. So they find a way to diminish his importance to the other members or villanise to cartoonish levels to deal with that discomfort.

Add onto that how a lot of ARMYs seem to assume that just being a BTS fan makes you an ally/intelligent/a good person, and it's the perfect scenario for some cognitive dissonance. Only that JM haters and Tkkers don't seem to have enough cognitive for it to be anything. Even (maybe especially, even) shipping two men doesn't automatically make you supportive of the queer community and understanding of the struggles just existing as a queer person brings about.

They always clamour "but two gay men wouldn't do xyz in a homophobic country", failing to recognise that queer people have existed through so much worse and still have done things wildly more gay than anything Jikook have done.

There's also a lot of them who only see JM's gender expression and "queer subtext" (meaning fashion choices, and the whole concept of his photofolio + album) while disregarding JK's. Like, that man pulled out the most feminine look and attitude in his "bobs+bangs" Calvin Klein shoot. And he fucking owned it. But instead, at least in my perception, the fandom is split on him: one half genuinely sees and appreciates JKs expression of himself, while the other mostly memes it to death and ridding it of meaning. Any perception of JK as a potentially non-hetero man is forgotten the moment he presents as classically masculine again, aka stereotyping the whole queer community to death.

The latter doesn't happen with JM, because - like you said - he fits the common perception of a gay man. Which is all fun and games for the many "The JM effect" compilations, but for cis shippers it starts sliding into homophobia the moment they need to stop perceiving the members as Ken Dolls and instead treat them as actual human beings with all their complexities, faults and incongruent behaviour.

Which brings me onto Hobi. Now, I don't think he gets it quite as bad as JM.

One reason being that there's simply not as many Yoonminers who aren't mainly tkkers. The latter often uses the former to not be seen as a JM anti, but aside from compilations getting spread to push the "married couple" agenda, they don't focus their attention on it. (Also can the "arguing a lot = being in love/married" thing plz die? As someone whose grandparents argue every 20 minutes (real numbers) it's the actual worst and not really a reflection of romance...)

Another one is that Yoonminers do not care about original content at all. From what I've seen during my baby army days, they pick and choose everything down to the tiniest detail. So they mostly ignore that Hobi even exists as a possible variable.

Which brings me to my next point, which kinda breaks my heart: I don't think a lot of shippers in general, and the tkk/ym crowd in particular, see Hoseok as someone to focus their attention on. He gets forgotten a LOT, relegated to the fun sidekick comic relief while the ships are the mc's. (Which is why, imho, it's always his releases a lot of the fandom doesn't care about/actively ignores). The actual deep founded love every single member of BTS has for him - to the point they should actually propose - is insane. How can you think Ym is more real than Sope or Jihope? How can people be that willfully obtuse?

As someone who thinks Jikook could be real (2019, I am looking at you), I had my doubts seeing Jihope interact a few times. But what gets me is how fucking whipped Hobi gets every time he watches Jikook be all adorable. He looks at them like the proud BFF who got them together. A lot of that is his general love for the maknae line and his personality, but that level? The instances of it happening?

Even (maybe especially, even) shipping two men doesn't automatically make you supportive of the queer community and understanding of the struggles just existing as a queer person brings about.

This!! Is so key to everything wrong with a large group of shippers and even solo fans. This idea that because you ship on m/m ship over the other, you are no way capable of making homophobic assumptions and statements. To a lot of shippers shipping a potentially queer couple is just another way to fulfill some forbidden romance fantasy of theirs and not actual concern for the lived reality of queer couples in conservative countries.

Which is why the painful torture of two boyfriends being torn apart from each other like star crossed lovers sounds more palatable and realistic to tkkrs than a queer couple deciding to stick by each other's side through thick and thin, despite the risks. It's less spicy I guess, but who cares of queer joy when the dramatics of the other possibility is so much more enticing.

Everytime I see tkkrs make the whole, "being gay in the military is forbidden so a gay couple would never risk going together" argument, a part of my soul dies. I don’t know what's more offensive, the idea that a closeted couple will just forget how to behave around each other after potentially years of being together because Gays and their crazy sex drives, am I right?

Or the alternative explanation that queer people in conservative countries just never make risky descions for the sake of their partners because the law forbids them from even existing.

Both explanations are tone deaf and ignorant of the lived reality of queer people. Its a direct result of straight people dominating shipper spaces. I do sometimes wonder what queer tkkr shippers make of these theories (cause I'm sure they exist as well). Are they perhaps more sane or do they subscribe to this bs as well ?

And oh my gosh yes about jungkook. That boy has very vocally played about with his gender expression and has been the one ignored the most by seriously cis heterosexual fans. This daddy Dom fantasy they project onto him is a bit much though I do think he does enjoy a more masculine cool image for himself as well. Which to the straight mind is confirmation for all their wattpad inspired fantasies of him. It's unfortunate but alas, stereotypes stick , especially those made by people with a very set view of the world.

As for hobi and the ynmner /sope dilemma, I totally get it. Ynmn shippers do tend to get on my nerves from time to time as well and it no doubt does have something to do with the correlation of them to the tkkr subgroup. I have grown fond of the ynmn dynamic since my baby army days I must admit though, because you can clearly see how much yoongi genuinely appreciates jimins presence and how jimin relies on yoongi for emotional comfort. It is sweet, but yeah I don't necessarily see anything else going on there.

Same goes for sope honestly. Nothing has ever made me seriously question them, except the sunshine bf with grumpy bf dynamic they do fit into very perfectly. They also clearly rely on each other for emotional support (Bring Hobi, hes my vitamin 🥺) but yeah Nothing as eye raising ig ? But yes, i can completely see why it's so frustrating to see how Hobi is dismissed within other shipping dynamics similar to the treatment j/m has gotten. Hobi does tend to get overlooked a lot in these bts dynamic discussions when he very much does embody the heart of the group and the members love for him is so heartfelt and grand, we really seriously underestimate his significance to keeping the bts spirit in line all these years.

I love my ball of sunshine who holds and even bottles up a lot emotionally for the sake of his fans and the team. And he always deserves more appreciation by everyone in the fandom (myself included)

I actually do have thoughts on how Soap and Ghost got together in the new life! I've realized I should probably talk about them more in headcanons lol. I'll start with this

So, in the SiTO universe, they actually get together before the events of MW2 (this is Canon as most of what I'm about to say is actually going to play into a later chapter)

So essentially, the 141 are together for almost three years before the events of MW2 (this is the three year time jump after Jackson loses his leg) and during these three years, they run missions together and Price just kinda naturally pairs Ghost and Soap together for a lot of missions because he tends to take Gaz with him.

So like over the first year on the team, Soap starts kinda endearing himself to Ghost. Soap doesn't even realize it cause he's just being himself but Ghost starts falling for him pretty quickly, though he tries to hide it.

Ghost falls first, Soap falls harder/quicker. Like I think Soap doesn't even realize he's developing feelings for Ghost at first. Then when he does realize, things spiral fast from there.

Things get kinda awkward between them for a bit as the tension rises and neither of them quite know how to handle it. Soap doesn't really think Ghost likes him. Ghost knows that Soap likes him back but doesn't think he's worthy of Soap.

Eventually they get sent on a mission together and Ghost gets hurt and Soap kinda loses his shit. Fully thinks Ghost is going to die so he confesses to him. They kiss. Ghost passes out.

Well, Ghost ends up living. They kiss again. They start a tentative relationship around 6 months before the events of MW2.

I think the events of MW2 makes things more serious for them. Like the events of "Alone" and being betrayed by Graves really puts into context for them how much they really do feel for one another and how this relationship is real, it is important, and it isn't going away.

After the events of the game are when they officially tell Gaz, Laswell, and Price about the relationship. Price and Laswell already knew, Gaz was genuinely shocked.

So then, pretty soon after the events of MW2 and we have Roach getting introduced to the team.

I think Soap latches on to Roach as a friend almost immediately, but doesn't really think of him as any more than that for a while.

As for Ghost, I think he see's Roach as an ally, but because his relationship with Soap is still sorta new and he's still unsure of his worth to Soap, he immediately see's the way that Soap latches on to him and kinda see's him as an enemy. This is why his mind twists it so he thinks that Roach has a thing for Soap. He can't really see anyone having a thing for him over Soap.

So, when do these two start falling for Roach? Well, for Ghost, it starts immediately after having his talk with Roach in the conference room. Learning that Roach had actually been looking at him and not Soap not only made him more open to befriending Roach, but also made him pay attention to him more. This, in turn, let to a slow snowball of him gaining feelings for Roach.

However, he doesn't realize he has these feelings until he thinks aroach has died in Russia. He's sitting there, listening to Soap panic, thinking about how he'll never see Roach again. And it just hits him like a ton of bricks.

As for Soap, he doesn't start falling for Roach until probably about four months into Roach's time on the team. So this would be maybe two months after Roach and Ghost start getting along. He falls quick and, again, he doesn't even realize he's fallen in love.

He realizes he's in love on the mission in Kazakhstan, specifically the moment he realizes is when Roach turns to him after he's blown up the hangar and tells him he should do it more often.

Neither of them talks to the other about the fact that they've fallen in love until during Roach's time while he was injured.

Spending so much time with Roach makes them both realize how much they like him and how real their feelings are. Its Ghost who approaches Soap about his feelings. They sit down and have a very long conversation where they work things out for themselves and figure out what they want.

By the time the stuff happens with Westbrook and the shirt, they've come to the conclusion that they will be dating Roach as well, thank you very much.

Please go off abt how unbelievably white the rwby fandom is

I don't want to pit marginalized communities against each other, but there's this overall gross sentiment in the fandom where white wlws feel represented by the show so they don't care that poc, other lgbt+ folks, and marginalized communities don't.

Rvvby is their comfort show and they're hooked on crvvby's parasocial 'we're your fwriends!! We care about you!! Pls give us your money!!' nonsense and because they feel represented they buy into it all. Just like team Rwby, they prioritize their own comfort above all else while they sit and virtue signal and tout themselves as allies until one of us expresses an opinion that goes against their 'Roosterteeth is so progressive and caring' narrative.

We've seen it with the whole Adam fiasco. These fans project themselves onto the abuse storyline and re-write canon to paint Adam as the absolute embodiment of everything evil in this world but when us poc go 'Um, the writers making the abused, minority character into a jealous incel and invoking sensitive imagery of a branded minority just to push a ship is kinda uncomfortable', they roar at us for being abuse apologists. This is the same nonsense in the Encanto fandom where white queers push Abuela as homophobic cause they can't identify with the obvious generational trauma theme in the movie.

And then there's the weird BTS army level of stanning a bunch of cishet white men doing the bare minimum for representation. I don't have to explain how backwards that is. RT has so many skeletons falling out their closet, to their frat boy, offensive humor, the crunch controversy, people like Ryan Haywood and Michael Quinn being outed as creeps and abusers and the company's large history of sexism, misogyny, racism and every ism and phobic under the sun . But the fandom at large doesn't care cause at least they might get to see their favourite ship kiss in the next volume. And if not in the next volume then, the volume after that, or the volume after that one, etc. MEK go 'hey fellow feminists. Look at these evil white men. We feminists hate white men right? Look at poor Winter. The nasty white man groomed and abused her. Screw the military!' and the stans eat it up. Funny how it's only Winter who's 'groomed' and 'abused' but not Clover or the other Ace-Ops. Nope, they're bootlickers, but not the white woman.

All of it cumulates to a very, uncomfortable experience in the fandom as anyone other than white and wlw.

Rvvby has offended the black community, the disabled, mlm, and the neuro-divergent. The only way this stupid, made-up 'war against the HTDM' ends if when Rvvby offends the wlws/white women. Then it's GOT, Supernatural and Voltron all over again, proof that they only ever care about representation when it only concerns seeing themselves represented.

Do you think any of the bts members are part of the lgbtq+ community? I assume you think vmin are, what makes you think that? I kinda feel like jimin could be bi... while tae gay maybe? And Yoongi could be bi as well. Tbh they all kinda give off gay vibes, but I guess it's bc of the cultural difference and bc they are all so close... so they may do things that seem a lot to many people but not to them... so who knows? I think there might be members that are LGBT+, but of course that’s just based on how I percieve things. I apologize in advance for this answer being a bit messy... As you say there are many things that make such speculation difficult.

Honestly putting definite labels on someone is not something I really want to or think we can do... Sometimes the members do things that might indicate interest in various genders, but that’s still too vague to define a sexuality for me. Unless they say something themselves, I don’t think we can know. 

I mean, even assuming someone you know is LGBT+ is gay, pan, bi etc. with a specific label without them having told you is so common and can even lead to mislabeling someone. One obvious example is how bi-erasure makes someone go from straight to being gay when they start dating someone of the same gender etc. There are so many types of sexualites and gender expressions to begin with. Some don’t even accociate with a label at all. For example I personally think Namjoon seems to be attracted to women, but even if that is a correct guess it doesn’t have to mean he is straight. 

It’s very complicated, at least for me, to dive too deep into it with anything except “hunches or guesses” based on behavior and actions. This becomes even more complicated when we add difference in culture, idol fanservice, personal comfortableness with intimacy, level or homophobia or supportive people around them and personal experience etc. 

BTS likely can’t even be honest with their sexualities if they are LGBT+ and that makes it even more difficult to know depending on if they even want to show that part of themselves or not. Internalized homobhobia can be very strong, even though I suspect BTS being more and more open towards LGBT+ might help if members are non straight. And we still don’t know anything about how their families or friends would react etc. Not to mention we know a lot of fans would hate them and leave them if they ever proved to definitely be non straight. So them hiding being LGBT is obviously going to make it more difficult to guess if any member might be LGBT+, if they on purpse try to not show it. For example saying some things are not for men to do, or being careful with how they come across. Something I personally think Jimin for example might have done more in the past, as he is aware how he can fit into a lot of stereotypes for what is “gay” or feminine. The same goes for Hobi who can be very flamboyant. And while these things can be an indication for sexuality or gender identity they don’t have to be. Especially not when idols even get encouraged at times to act or more “delicate or feminine” or do fanservice with the same sex etc. There are a lot of blurred lines, and those lines can be a bit fluid as well...

There are also soooo many colors of the rainbow that I don’t think it’s weird for a lot of idols to be part of the community in some ways, even if they might never openly be so. Some might also be allies, some might be curious or unsure about themselves and some might be in straight up denial as well.

So, I rather just guess if they might be LGBT+ than what exact label, because going in to detail is so personal and different from person to person.

I also want to say again, that “straight until proven otherwise” honestly needs to go away, and assuming someone is straight is a toxic way to assume sexuality. Not to mention it’s much more harmful to shut down conversations about them possibly being LGBT+ than mistaking a straight person for possibly LGBT+. A LGBT+ person might have no choice to hide (very likely in the case of idols), so showing we are open and supportive no matter what is what matters the most.

That being said I feel it’s very very likely at least some members are LGBTQ+ if not for anything else than comments like “when we don’t have boyfriends or girlfriends” from Namjoon and other moments like it, in combination with their support for the community. At the very least they are allies.

Personally the way some members involve themselves in LGBT+ culture in various ways I see as something to more likely happen when you are part of the community yourself and not just an ally. But BTS having the influence they have of course it could all also be meant to be inclusive and show support as they have for various causes. That’s why it all still remains uncertain.

I will make a more articulate section on Taehyung and Jimin’s possibly being LGBT+ in my bigger analysis. But I will try to summarize a little bit of my thoughts in this answer and hope that it all makes sense.

Big Hit in general and in particular Bang PD seem to be pretty open and LGBT+ friendly. Many concepts of Big Hit artists can have LGBT+ subtext. It’s not always explicit, but something many rainbow ARMY might pick up on, like the storyline between JK and Yoongi in the BU. For example reading Demian which the whole BST era is based on I personally see a lot of LGBT+ subtext in that book (which is then also fitting with other things we know about Hermann Hesse’s life). But a lot of people won’t pick up on it and we can’t know for sure because no one ever explicitly says it is meant to be LGBT+.

Many BTS members support LGBT+ artists, it doesn’t have to be because of them being LGBT+ but it wouldn’t be odd for them to search for representation and artists to relate to if they are LGBT+ themselves. Mostly we have seen Tae, Namjoon and JK being more “loud” witht their support for LGBT+ artists, songs, movies, books etc.

Namjoon, Tae and JK have all expressed support in various ways directly to LGBT+ fans that have showed up to fansites.

Members like Yoongi has straight up said it’s nothing wrong, everyone is equal, when Namjoon was a bit more “diplomatical” and tried to swerve the question a bit. Both could still be LGBT+, and both could be allies, even with very different reactions.

I think all members have their moments to show LGBT+ support, and all members have “questionable moments” that makes people speculate about their sexualities. For me Tae, Namjoon, Yoongi and JK seem to be the most open about support or showing interesting in LGBT+ things. But that can also have to do with their personalities, or even feeling less scared to show support.  In some cases it might even be easier for an ally to speak up for someone LGBT+ when they can’t themselves, as in a closeting situation.

I know you asked about all members, but I want to be honest and say that while I do know a bit about all of them, I do know a lot more about some members than others. I am also kind of sitting here and aren’t sure I can say more than I think all of BTS are allies, and that it seems likely at least some members are LGBT+. I have seen small things from basically all members, but I haven’t seen enough to lean heavily towards any particular sexuality. So, while I am sharing my thoughts here they can sway back an forth a lot and can very much just be based on misinterpretation. It can also be difficult to put a definite reason to why I react more to some members doing similar things.

Based on actions alone, because I try not to bring in vibes, I guess the short summary would be:

Jin - Has talked the most about wanting a girlfriend, and while he has said things like his celeberity crush is Brad Pitt I haven’t seen a lot with him in regards to LGBT+. To me less likely to be LGBT+.

Yoongi - Has been very firm with being supportive of LGBT+ and has had both lyrics and interviews that could be interpreted as gender not being important to him in general. Doesn’t show a lot, but the things he does say seem very pointed and deliberate. To me more likely to be LGBT+.

Namjoon - Has been the loudest since the earliest with his support for LGBT+. Wrote LGBT+ lyrics for Glam but also very sexual lyrics about women in early songs. Has talked about queer culture a lot and while he seems careful at times has expressed a lot of open support. Enjoys a lot of queer culture and has recomended movies, songs and books. Has showed more personal interest towards women, but seem very interested in LGBT+. Definitely an ally, likely into women, but also very possibly into other genders. To me more somewhere “in the middle” or more likely LGBT+.

Hobi - Has done subtle things like wearing rainbow belts during pride, but seemed to start being more LGBT+ supportive when all of BTS did so. Could possibly be non straight or also just very comfortable with himself and an ally. (He has “effiminate or flamboyant” behavior but I don’t want to lean too much into that.) Buuuut he also accidentally said stuff like “boyfriend”. To me “somewhere in the middle”, or more likely to be LGBT+.

JK - Seem to avoid questions about women/crushes and sometimes even answering with men (Like Namjoon or Ironman). Is the most “feminine” according to members (though that was a while ago) and is very open to expressing things in a gender neutral way. The member who has said the least in regards to masculine stereotypes like “men should” and also one of the members who is the loudest about LGBT+ artists. Also having done covers by LGBT+ artists without changing pronouns. To me more likely to be LGBT+.

I am fully aware I just basically said I think almost all members are likely to be LGBT+. But I really try to just look at them as individuals. It’s also as I said much more difficult for me to be able to truly know their thoughts in regards to LGBT+ based on such limited information as the subject in itself is partly taboo. It’s also possible with such a close knit group that if some members are LGBT+ that will affect and make other members more open as well. Basically the way BTS express support doesn’t have to be personal for all of them.

However, despite it all I think Taehyung is the member who seems to be the “most loud” in a personal way when it comes to LGBT+ (and also Yoongi). For me it makes sense with their personalities and how they are outspoken in general for something they believe in. @romanticdrift​ recently answered an ask (HERE) with a lot of good points, and in particular when it comes to Taehyung’s possible sexuality. This is why I feel Jin who also is quite outspoken in general but haven’t talked a lot (at least not to my knowledge) about LGBT+ things feel more like an ally in comparison. 

For me there are many things about Taehyung over the years I can’t help but think of when it comes to LGBT+ and have given me reason to wonder about Taehyung himself being part of the community. Especially when putting them all together it seems to be something important to him.

Talking about many things and people from queer culture. Not just enjoying them but sharing it with fans.

Singing songs like Stigma about being a sinner for something you can’t help or change. Many of Taehyung’s songs many LGBT+ fans relate to.

The reference to the gay movie “Moonlight” in a self written song, and most of Tae’s songs being gender neutrual. (All except Winter Bear).

The meaning of the color purple as the last color of the rainbow.

Saying “thank you” to fans with a pride flag at a concert.

Since early on having no problem with crossdressing or other things that might “look gay” (there are also moments where he has objected like “men don’t do...” as most BTS members have). But we also have things like randomly doing roleplay where he can’t be together with Jimin. I mention this because it wasn’t for a camera, but something Jin told us.

Talking about the reason for his Christmas song not being with Jimin. The fact that he highlighted the reason as the lyrics not fitting two men and going on to say he doesn’t think he will ever release it. To me this is probably the most personal example where Tae seems bothered about something homophobic.

Basically there is something in the way Taehyung expresses his support that just seem more personal, and more tied to himself. He isn’t just loud with support ike some other members, he expresses things like he relates to it more openly.

For Jimin I think he is more difficult with actual examples of openly supporting or expressing things LGBT+. And it’s difficult looking at him without going into gender norms and falling into sterotype traps as well. I do think Jimin has changed a lot and as many other members wear a lot more gender neutrual clothes etc. If I make this about Vmin I would even say Jimin’s image properly seemed to become a bit more “soft” around the time Taehyung gave him the Gucci sweater, which was gender neutral. Think more Jimin in sweater paws and soft oversized clothes. 

It could also be an image change as Spring Day era definitely brought a lot of softer Jimin. However, I want to emphasis here that Jimin still to this day has a lot of styles and outfits that are also very masculine. And that many other members also wear gender neutral clothes. Not to mention that clothes can express things without being tied to sexuality or gender of the person who wears them.

For me I think it can be even more ambigious with clothes only because often we don’t know if they decided the clothes or if it was a choice by a stylist etc. And we know most members have worn gender neutral clothes or womens clothes, especially for performances or photoshoots. So personal clothes I see as of more importance. For example Yoongi wearing very limited edition Pro-LGBTQ+ shoes as his personal clothes (HERE).

Back to Jimin... I personally see Jimin as a very aware and careful person when it comes to how he is percieved in general. Thus if he is LGBT+ I think he unlike Taehyung would likely be more careful. So, Jimin showing less directly LGBT+ support might be a choice out of acting careful. No matter if he is LGBT+ himself or not. But it does make things more vague. But he also painted the symbol of bigender on himself, so.

The things I have noted except for his image over the years are fewer than with many other members, and I try to not to put too much weight on his looks and manners and “vibes”, even if those things can be because of him being LGBT+.

Jimin has sometimes acted a bit defensive about his sexuality/masculinity, but he has never denied the possibility of him liking men despite getting asked.

Jimin is a member who has perhaps the most (together with Tae and Hobi) showed a liking for fanservice between members. (Doesn’t have to show his sexuality, but could also be a place where he gets to express something he usually can’t).

Lie is a song about not showing your true self and hurting/being punished. Jimin has been very vague when speaking of the meaning of the song. It’s a song many LGBT+ fans also relate to.

Jimin is a naturally flirty person, and the flirting doesn’t seem to be limited to one gender. But, it doesn’t have to be flirting based on attraction.

In general, there is just a lot less direct things when it comes to Jimin and LGBT+. Which doesn’t surprise me considering his personality. There are moments of course, like liking LGBT+ artists like Kehlani or reacting to pride flags at concerts. But at least to me there is a lot less to actually analyze when it comes to Jimin and LGBT+ moments and that makes things more difficult. So, to me Jimin is probably someone I am more unsure of, which might be surprising to some of you, especially considering this is a Vmin blog. But because of Jimin’s personality and early reactions/behavior I also am not at all surprised if he is more careful on purpose, especially if he is LGBT+.

Interesting to me as a Vmin shipper is also that quite a few of Taehyung’s LGBT+ things could possibly be related to Jimin. For example the line from “Moonlight” in 4 o’clock or Tae asking if Jimin can “be the girlfriend” while roleplaying. Not to mention the Christmas song of course. But I don’t want to use things from Taehyung to try and guess about Jimin. Basically looking at only them as individuals Jimin is less likely to be LGBT+ than Tae, but I do still think the chance of both of them being queer is there.

And if I then dive into Vmin's behavior with each other assuming they are both queer, that might show some interesting things too. But that will always be based on the IF, not as proof for their sexualites.

So, that was my view... I have been asked about this quite a few times, and I hope this post made sense. I know it was long and messy, but that’s also because sexuality can be such a difficult topic.

You knew that you should not have left Jin alone with his brothers for thirty minutes.

You knew that leaving his side so you can go and talk to Jisoo about girl stuff, leaving Jin unattended with his brothers, especially the maknae when there is alcohol involved was a no-go. But you did it anyways, so now you are here – dealing with a flirty Jin who has one too many drinks in his system.

“You’re so pretty,” Seokjin cooed, body weight leaning into yours as you walked him to the car. “But!” He announced loudly, shocking you. “I haves a girlfriend, ACTUALLY! A fiancée. So, my compliments need to stop. I-It’s just that you look so much like her, that it is uncanny.” He rambled. “You even have the same, comfy, soft boobs! Are you her doppelganger?” Seokjin asked with a curious voice – a voice that does not suit his mafia boss persona.

Laughing at his question, “No, Jinnie, I’m Y/N. The actual her.” Mouth dropping wide in astonishment, “No way! Baby!” He yelled, flying into you, sending the both of you to the ground. But even in his drunken state, his reflexes still worked, and he turned you guys around to where he took the beating of the ground while you fell onto his chest. “Ooo, I like this position,” he said cheekily, smiling up at you.

“Of course, you do, you drunk.” You chuckled, “Now, get up. We need to get your drunk ass home.”

Yoongi:

The sound of breaking glass was what caught your attention from the book you were reading. Closing the book, you put it aside to see if the sound would repeat again, which it did. The breaking glass was coming from above you, which is where your boyfriend’s office was. Standing up, you quietly, but quickly, made your way up the stairs, slowly hearing the curses and angry words coming from your boyfriends’ mouth. Once you got to the office door, you quietly knocked on the door, silencing all of the commotion on the other side of the door.

The door opened, showing the distressed man in front of you. Trying to hide his tears, he turned around and made his way over to his desk, silently telling you that you can come in.

“Yoongi, what’s wrong?” You asked softly, walking up behind him, putting a few feet between you guys.

“Nothing. Why do you ask?” He replied, being short with you.

Spotting the bottle of whisky on his desk, you connected the dots that he is stressed since whisky is his escape drink.

“Well,” you started off, “There’s broken glass on the floor from you throwing it, whisky on the desk, and you’re obviously crying. So, something is wrong.”

“Wow, why would you ask me since you apparently know what’s going on.” He snapped, turning around to look at you, eyes blank.

Taking a few steps back, you coiled in on yourself by his harshness. Realizing that he wants you to leave him alone, you respected his wishes. “I’ll leave you alone then. I just wanted to check up on you.” You bowed, turning around and leaving.

Before you could walk out the door, you felt a soft grip on your arm, pulling you back.

“Please don’t leave.” Yoongi asked, voice raspy. “I don’t want to be alone right now.”

Not saying anything, you pulled your boyfriend into a hug. Your actions caused your boyfriend to breakdown, shocking you at the sight. The most dangerous man in the underworld, the one who scares the law itself, was falling apart in your arms for a reason you do not know.

Hoseok:

“And a BOOP!”

Trying to stay calm, you watched the finger – for the twentieth time – come in contact with your nose. Your eyebrow twitched from irritation. Surprisingly you were keeping your composure really well. You were not blowing up on your boyfriend yet.

But the thing that you do not get is how the man who can kill a person with a smile on his face, not even flinching, can act so childish and love messing with your nose whenever he is drunk.

It is like trying to figure out how many licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll.

“Your nose is so cute!” Hoseok squealed, face moving close to you, breaking your personal bubble boundary, “It has a little arch to it!” He added, a squeal evident in his tone.

That was a new one, you concluded.

“Can I run my finger over your nose?” He asked, voice innocent.

Releasing a sigh, a sigh that seemed to be very offensive that Hoseok took to heart. “Are you mad at me?” He sniffled, looking away to hide his face.

“No, Hobi.” You reassured softly, “I’m just getting a little irritated, but I am not mad at you, I promise.”

Sniffles growing louder, you realized that you messed up.

“I��M ANNOYING YOU?!”

Fuck.

Before you could say anything else, your body was met with the couch while your boyfriends body was thrown on top of yours. ‘I’m sorries’ were spewing out of his mouth rapidly, body shaking from the sobs racking over his body.

“Yes! You can run your finger over my nose.” You said, hoping it will calm him down.

As if a light switch was turned off, your boyfriend immediately stopped crying, a huge smile gracing his face. “Yay! Thank you!” His finger running over your nose, face morphed into a concentrated look.

Namjoon:

When you walked into your home, your sense of smell was met with alcohol – mainly whiskey and cigars.

“Oh no,” you whispered to yourself, preparing yourself for what was possibly going to happen.

Namjoon is drunk by now, and this only happens when he is overly stressed, or in need of an outlet for his anger. So, a drunk Namjoon equals an angry drunk Namjoon. You have only seen this side of him just once, and it was not pretty.

You did not speak to Namjoon for a week because of it.

He promised you he would not seek comfort from alcohol ever again – but he broke his promise.

Walking into the living room, you found your boyfriend sitting in the single sofa chair, the top three buttons of his dress shirt undone, showing the caramel skin of his chest. But his beautiful sight was ruined when you saw the whiskey bottle sitting on the side table with the cigar on the ash tray, and a glass of whiskey in his ring clad hand.

“I am surprised you have not started yelling yet,” Namjoon mocked, interrupting your train of thought. “Last time I drank, you freaked out on me.”

Taken aback by his words, “I didn’t freak out on you? Plus, I am not going to now. I am curious on why you are drinking, whiskey especially.”

“Oh, so am I not allowed to drink certain alcoholic drinks?” He asked, sarcasm and mockery laced in his words. “Wow, you’re more controlling than I thought.”

You could feel your heart break at his words, eyes stinging from the tears that are wanting to spill. “Wow. Um, okay.” You said, not knowing what words to use. You were beating yourself up mentally from how weak you are and your inability to stand up for yourself. So, choosing the cowardly way out, you turned around and made your way to the guess room that was in your house, locking the door and hiding yourself in there.

Jimin:

Sitting at the booth in the bar, you listened to your best friend Yoonji vent about her and Namjoon’s relationship.

Tonight, was club night with the boys.

Having a boyfriend who is a mafia boss that owns his own private club was awesome, especially during parties. Not having to pay and wait in line was awesome, drinks and food was free, and the best of all – sitting in the VIP section away from the drunk people.

“I just wish that he would make more time for me,” Yoonji stressed, eyes tearing up. “I feel so alone sometimes…” She trailed off, taking a gulp from his glass.

A frown was on your face, watching your friend cry was one of the worst things ever. Before you could add your opinion in, you felt a body that was all too familiar fall on top of you. A pair of lips attached theirs to yours, shocking you from the abruptness.

“My Love!” Your boyfriend announced, a drunken grin of his face, cheeks tinted red from the alcohol he has been drinking. “I have missed you so MUCH!” He stated, lips now turned downwards.

“I’ve missed you too, Jiminie.” You replied back, honesty laced in your words. “But, I’m talking with Yoonji here,” you motioned towards your friend, your boyfriends head whipping around quickly to look at her.

“Ooops! I’m sorry Yoonji!” He apologized truthfully, head turning back towards you. “Is it okay if I lay my head on your lap while you talk with Yoonji? My head hurts, and I PROMISE! I won’t speak of anything that you guys say to Namjoon!” He promised, sticking his pinky in the air towards you.

“Wait, what?” Yoonji asked in shock. “How do you know we are talking about Namjoon?”

“Cause silly! You just admitted to it,” Jimin giggled, already making himself comfortable on your lap. “Plus, the both of you came in upset, so it’s kinda obvious that you two are arguing.”

And that was the last thing your boyfriend said before he was lulled into a deep sleep.

Looking up at Yoonji, you gave her an apologetic smile. “Jimin’s extra blunt when he’s drunk?”

Taehyung:

As you conversed with your boyfriend’s gang members girlfriends, you could feel the heavy stare on your back from your boyfriend. You knew that you looked hot – thanks to the constant compliments and love that your boyfriend gives you everyday has helped with your self love. Wearing a sexy, but appropriate dress to the ball that was thrown by an ally mafia gang was a good idea because it was messing with your boyfriend. You knew the little things that riled up your boyfriend of three years – and this dress was one of them; especially when he had alcohol in his system.

“Um, Y/N?” Madison, Jungkook’s girlfriend of seven months spoke, catching your attention.  

“Hm?”

“Taehyung is I think glaring at you,” She said nervously.

Smiling at her innocence, “Oh, is he?” You asked, turning around to look at your boyfriend who just finished downing his glass of wine. When the two of you made eye contact you gave him a gentle smile and he winked at you. You could see that he has had a lot to drink due to the flush of his cheek and aura that he was giving off.

“He literally has been undressing you with his eyes all night.” Suri commented, bringing a blush to your cheeks from her bluntness.

“And you are right,” Taehyung admitted, surprising you from his sudden appearance. His strong arms wrapped around you, pulling you into his chest, head ducking down to nuzzle into your neck. His breath smelt like alcohol and cigarettes as he pressed kisses to you neck. “You’ve looked so beautiful all night that I got turned on.”

“You’ve smoked a cigarette?!” You yelled, shocking the girls and Taehyung.

“What? No, baby—”

“Do not ‘baby’ me,” your voice came out deadly. “You told me you quit!” You accused, glaring at your boyfriend who looked scare, something that you will later laugh at since he is the biggest mafia boss in the world.

“I did. I just had two with Jackson and Namjoon!”

Not wanting to make a bigger scene, you walked away with a nervous and apologetic Taehyung.

“He’s totally not getting anything tonight,” Suri chuckled into his cup of wine.

“$20 he is,” Jisoo, Jimin’s friend had bet.

“You’re so on.”

Jungkook:

“Ugh, another fucking voicemail,” Jungkook grumbled drunkenly. “Y/N, this is my hundredth voicemail, when will you answer? Please answer. I’m sorry that I snapped and scared you. I know that I acted out irrationally during the argument. You’re right, I am childish and short tempered, but that doesn’t give me the excuse to say what I said and act how I acted. Wait? Did I say that right? hopefully because I want to make this right with you. I love you, Y/N, and I know that I have a suckish way of showing it, but I do. You’re the light in the darkness that I live in. never would I have thought of meeting you, meeting love in this Mafia world. I just want, need, you back, baby. Please come back to me,” Jungkook stopped, the sobs taking over him. The scary realization of losing you might be coming true. “Please give me one more chance to make this right.”

And with that, he hung up.

On the other side of the city, you listened to the voicemail that Jungkook had sent to you, tears streaming down your face and blurring your vision, your mind already being made up. Putting on a bra and shoes, you grabbed your purse and made your way to Jungkook’s mansion. When you pulled up, you were met with Phil and Leo at the gate. The two guards gave you smile, relief filling their eyes.

Walking into the mansion, you were met with a disastrous living room that had glass and frames on the carpet. A sigh escaped your lips as you realized that you had of fixing up to do.

“I am this drunk that I am imagining you standing right in front of me?” Jungkook asked, scaring your soul out of your body it felt like.

“It’s actually me, Kook.” You giggled, eyes tearing up at the relieved look in Jungkook’s eyes.

One minute his was on the stairs and the next he was squeezing you into his chest.

“You’re back,” he croaked. “Thank God, you’re back to me.”

So who do you ship in BTS? I mean we all know Taehyung and Jungkook are fucking but anyone else?

This is a very disrespectful ask to send. These aren't characters, these are real people. For the most part I ignore the shippers in the fandom because so long as they accept its all fantasy and don't try and force it onto the boys it's mostly harmless but the fact you mentioned Taehyung and Jungkook, fans have actually tried to push that relationship on them and Tae has said in the past that these fans are delusional and that being shipped with his friends, people he feels like family with, makes him uncomfortable. So if you're gonna do it, stick to yourself and your own little group and don't push it on the boys or other fans like me who know it makes Tae uncomfortable thus it kinda makes me uncomfortable whenever I see it.

I don't ship any of the boys, I don't speculate on any of the boys sexualities or whatnot because quite frankly it's not our place as fans to even care who they're fucking/wanting to fuck. Not our place at all. The fans who screech about BTS being gay with each other (or just in general) are honestly just as bad as the ones who insist they're all straight, it doesn't matter, it's not our place to speculate. None of you get to claim moral high ground here since I have no doubt that if they end up dating women you'll have ones just as angry and disappointed that their ship wasn't real (and some people who just hate the idea of their Idols not being lgbt like them even though they've been strong allies their whole career and sexuality isn't a choice) and if one of them dates a dude well we already know what the backlash would be especially in Korea (but even outside of Korea too). But regardless I'm of the opinion we should all just not care because we don't know these boys.

So yeah I don't ship real people. I use the ship names platonically like Vmin for Jimin and Taehyung's friendship because they're sweet and wholesome but also a destructive pair of crackheads which is the perfect friendship let's be honest. Or Sope for Yoongi and Hobi's friendship. But I don't actually ship any of them because they're real people, if they wanted to fuck each other they would and they wouldn't have to disclose this to us but I lean more to the fact none of them are doing anything together just because any time it's brought up to them they all get very uncomfortable (or in Jin's case quite angry cause he's the oldest so he sees the younger members get uncomfortable and his paternal instincts kick in and he will fight someone verbally for making the babies of the group upset).

scream okay SORRY this took like 3 days to answer i just rly wanted to articulate my thoughts properly lmao. i think.....idk my feelings about fanservice and jikook specifically are kinda complicated? first of all disclaimer bcs the last time i talked about this i got a lot of people missunderstanding me lol. i DO think jikook are very close and i don't think theyre "faking" their friendship or how clingy they are. i maybe they way they act on camera is "not natural," yknow? no one on camera is gonna act as naturally as you would alone, and i think the same goes for them, i do agree with you on the idea that they probably play it up on camera, whether or not by choice or consciously just because of the fact that they're being recorded, and fanservice comes with being an idol and its ot just jikook, its all of them to a certain extent.

that being said, i dont think i have so much of a problem with them engaging in fanservice as i am with the way fans react to it, which is what may or may not encourage the way fanservice is given. jikook get clingy on camera WAY more than other members, and we know some of the other guys are a lot less comfortable with it. because of that i think its probably a bit reductive to say that jikook are only playing it up for the fans. its probably more than that, partially because they just are naturally clingy and close and they're comfortable enough to act that way on camera, partially to make up for other members' discomfort with fanservice, partially to distract fans from looking too into their personal lives by giving them something "public" to look at. i think where the problem lies is, as you said, people taking the parasocial relationship they have with bts too literally, and assuming they can define bts' relationships with each other for them. i DO think its incredibly homophobic point blank period to act like you can analyze idol relationships based on what they do on camera and name their relationship for them. whether or not they are actually that touchy with each other behind the scenes doesnt really matter to me tbh, if they want to act that way on camera for whatever reason, thats up to them. i just think its 1) grossely invasive and 2) downright homophobic of fans to act like their relationship is entertainment and up to us to consume/define.

it makes me think a lot of an interview with lauren from fifth harmony about how people shipping her with other members was traumatizing even if she is gay because it made her feel like she didnt have agency over her own relationships and how everyone else seemed to know her sexuality before she was comfortable sharing made her feel like she wasnt safe. i felt that way a lot in highschool too, where before i even KNEW i was gay people would assume things about my relationships with my friends just because we were comfortable and close. it WAS traumatizing and i think thats where my issues with fanservice come from; i dont care what bts or jikook do on or off camera because its up to them to decide how they feel about their relationship and how they want to show their friendship/whatever it is they have. what i CANNOT get behind is fans acting that, off the assumption that they ARE gay/together, that it means they get to read into their behaviours as if that isnt incredibly invasive and hurts gay people more than it "supports" them. you're absolutely right in saying its all just homophobia bcs twt stans only care about gay rights etc etc when it means inserting themselves into someone else's oppression and creating a narrative they can use as entertainment.

I normally only think of this at the worst times, but I’m finally making it. Please please please feel free to send me asks! -I’m a writer, so if you want to give me a situation to think about, I’m completely cool with that. I used to post about the amigops on my main and someone sent me an ask about what do you think about the amigops camping situation which I never got to so I am sorry anon but stuff like that is cool. Also, like lore. I’ve read a couple Corpse/Sykkuno Rust verse stories and I feel like the lore of those stories and the post apotolyptic(How do you spell that?) setting and how the teams form and the clan wars and allies in a “real world” setting would be super interesting to think about so feel free to ask about that. I’m just a writing nerd. Sue me.

-I do want to keep things non-shippy just because it makes the streamers uncomfortable and I don’t want to cause drama. I have no issues shipping Corpse and Sykkuno or any other pairing quietly as long as you know that they're just friends in real life. I think the keyword is quietly and offline(as in keep it to private chats/google docs/I maybe kept one Corpse/Sykkuno fic on AO3 after I deleted everything since they aren’t on AO3 and it was also pandemic related and I got the feeling from a lot of reviewers that people used it for a much needed cry, which is valid). I won’t condemn anyone, because I spent years reading BTS fanfic and there’s a great number of authors I respect who ship real people. They’re amazing writers, awesome people, and they know the difference between fiction and reality. Like, coming into the streamer fandom and seeing people act like people who shipped Corpse and Sykkuno couldn’t keep it just fiction was laughable. There’s a line there, and it never even blurred for me with Corpse and Sykkuno. That line is so large for me with BTS that I forget that one side exists relative to the other. They’re just... completely separate. That's just my honest take on shipping and I've been dancing around it and also scared to make Corpse and Sykkuno related posts because of drama. Just please respect streamers and keep shipping offline as much as possible. Also, if you really wanna talk shipping, my DMs are open and lowkey I'd probably be happy to have someone to talk with.

-Please keep drama to a minimum. I follow a lot of Sykktwt accounts so I'm able to follow drama from that end and that's more than enough drama. To be honest, I try to keep my feeds as drama free as possible. I'll make posts when I think is necessary(AKA my On Ash post) and if something major happens, feel free to send an ask.

To say that I had no interest in boys would be an understatement. I didn’t give four shits about them. I already had enough trouble with keeping my grades up, training for quidditch and being a proud Hogwarts student.

My family came from a long line of ambitious Slytherins. Although not nearly as known as the Malfoys, we had quite the reputation. When I had been sorted into Slytherin in my first year, I made it my top priority to not disappoint my family. That meant doing my best to leave an impression in Hogwarts. To be remembered. Recently I’d been falling behind in transfiguration. Today, in the middle of the lesson, I had tried to catch up with stuff I’d yet to write down. Something that Professor Snape had not appreciated. He’d given me detention, and so by the end of the day I didn’t have enough time to finish the homework assigned by other teachers.

Currently I was sat in the Slytherin common room, trying to catch up on work. I heard footsteps come into the common area and I immediately knew who they belonged to. I sighed and ignored the person that I came in.

I did mention that I had no interest in boys right? Well there was this one guy who just couldn’t take a hint. He had been on me since first year all the way to my fifth year. This year. He followed me through the halls, trying to make conversation with me. I only ever tried to push him away, so I never know why he keeps trying. Sometimes he reminds me more of a Hufflepuff than a Slytherin. How he was friends with one of the students that couldn’t be more of a Slytherin still puzzled me? (And I don’t mean that stereotype that Draco Malfoy left behind for us. I mean a true Slytherin.) 

But he also held that cheeky side that gave him that Slytherin trait. He was very naturally flirty and he used that on me and if I’m being totally honest. I kinda liked it. But never acted on those feelings. He was flirty with everyone. Thats what I always told myself. 

When that same boy sat next to me on the couch I did the same thing I always did. I didn’t pay him any attention. “So a/n/n…”

“You know I don’t like that name,” I say as I kept my eyes on my parchment.

“Anyway,” he says, changing the subject as soon as it emerged. “I’ve started reading this book.” He paused, when he saw that I was still paying him no mind he continued. “It’s called Twilight. Do you know it?”

I look up at him with a glare. “Yes, I do know it. Unfortunately.” You may be thinking. A pureblood Slytherin reading muggle books? Let me assure you that my family is very accepting regardless of bloodline. I had multiple muggle friends outside of Hogwarts. Most of them, much more loyal than anyone else here. But anyway, back to the “conversation” at hand. “And?” I asked him through gritted teeth as I held my glare on him.

“I was wondering,” he muses, ignoring my hard stare. He leans back against the back of the couch, looking up at the ceiling of the chamber. “When does it get interesting?” I snort out a laugh. I couldn’t help but laugh at his question. I clutched my stomach as I doubled over in laughter. The look of confusion on his face only making the whole situation funnier than it already was.

When I finally come down from my laughing high, I finally answer his question. “It doesn’t.” His once confused expression turns into one of unamusement. 

“Okay, I get it,” he says. “So you don’t like Twilight.”

“Not in a million years.” I shake my head.

“So which books do you like?”

“I’m not telling you,” I say. He wraps his arm around my shoulders and nests his head into the crook of my neck. 

“Please tell me,” he pleaded. He began trailing kisses up my neck. I could hear my heart beating and felt my face heat up. Merlin's beard, Y/n. Get a grip on yourself. 

“Fuck off Jimin,” I stuttered. His actions were flustering me and by the smirk I could feel on his lips. He knew this too. 

“Sorry, but I can’t do that,” he says against my neck. His teeth grazing my skin, causing a shudder to run down my spine. “Not until you answer my question.” He holds onto me tighter. One of his hands moving to hold onto my hip opposite him. I clamp my mouth shut. My stubbornness getting the best of me. “I guess you don’t want me to stop then.”

I huffed and tied my best to stay focused on my homework. Jimin’s kisses travel up to my jaw, making me tilt my head back. “Jimiiiiiiin,” I whined and I feel him smile against my skin.

“I asked for what books you like, not my name,” he states. “I try to glare at him from this position. Obviously failing. “But I can live with that too.” He places a kiss on the corner of my lips. My cheeks heat up and they are undoubtedly red. Butterflies flutter in my stomach and he pulls away when he hears someone calling his name.

“Jimin let’s go,” says the voice of a fellow Slytherin. “Everybody else is probably waiting for us in the great hall.” When the black haired boy spots his friend sitting next to me, he stops. But that doesn’t last long as he continues as if he didn’t notice me. “If you make me arrive late one more time then I’m disowning you.” Jimin looks at me and smiles.

“See you in a bit, doll.” He kisses my cheek and stands up. Jogging up to Yoongi who was just getting out the door. I bring my hands up to my warm face. I could only imagine how red it was. If I'm being completely honest, if there's one boy I do care about in this entire school, it'd have to be Jimin. Somehow, along the way, his small talk and flirting found its way into my heart.

That same night I had moved up into my dormitory so that I wouldn’t have to see Jimin again when he came back from dinner. I only had a third left of my assignments yet to be finished and I decided that it would be best if I left them for tomorrow. Since it was going to be Saturday tomorrow and I had the whole day off.

The beams of light that came in through the window broke me out of my sleep. I groaned and rolled over onto my opposite side. Covering my head to block out the sounds of owls and already active students I clamped my eyes shut. I shaken abruptly, and my pillow was yanked away from me and I was met with the sight of my best friend. She was yelling at me to get up as she pulled me up by the arms. “Nooooooo,” I whined. She rolled her eyes at me and ignored my complaints. She pushed me off of my bed and I tumbled onto the floor.

“Get dressed,” she orders. “We’re going to Hogsmede. I don’t care what you say. You haven’t gone out of this damn school for more than a week and you need a break.” I huff at her and she scolds me, acting like a mother. “DOn’T HuFf At Me.”

I had done what she asked and gotten dressed in a casual outfit. We went down the staircase and into the common room.

On the couches, was sitting Jimin. His silver hair pushed back, showing his forehead. A pair of thin rimmed spectacles perched on his nose as he read a book. Thankfully not Twilight. When he heard me and F/n coming down the stairs, his eyes lifted of the pages and landed on me. He smiled at me. “Good morning,” he said. His smile widened and he shut his book after marking where he left off.

“Good morning,” I mumbled back. Jimin giggled and stood up from the couch. He was wearing a grey wool sweater that matched his hair and a pair of black ripped jeans that accentuated his thighs. The spectacles giving him a cute look. After what had happened yesterday, I didn’t want to hang around much longer than I needed to. But my friend had another idea in mind. Being the social butterfly she is. 

“Good morning Jimin,” she beamed. She examined his outfit and complimented him on it. As she talked to him, I made sure to stay behind her. 

“Where are you guys going?” he asks F/n. She grabs me by the arm, bringing me forward.

“Me and Y/n are going to visit Hogsmede,” she explained. I tried to move behind her but she wouldn’t have it. “If you want you could come with us.” If looks could kill, the glare I sent F/n would’ve had her dead before either of us could’ve blinked.

“That would be great,” said Jimin. “Is it ok if my friends tag along too?” F/n nodded vigorously. She told Jimin that we would be waiting for him at the Three Broomsticks. Once we were out of the Slytherin common room, I punched F/n in the ribs 

“What was that for?!?” she yelled at me. Her brows furrowed together as she rubs the place I punched her.

“You know what that was for.” Good lord, this girl is so dense. When she finally realizes the situation, a smile widens on her lips.

“Ohhhhhhhhhhh! I get it now.” She lets out a laugh worthy of an evil doer. But one that disguises themselves as innocent little schoolgirls. “You don’t want Jimin to come along because of your crush on him.”

“What crush?” I denied. “I don’t have a crush on anybody.”

“Pleaseee Y/n.” F/n rolls her eyes. “Everybody knows that you two like each other.”

“He’s flirty with everyone.” F/n looks at me. The best way I could describe this stare is with the word ‘Really?’. I look away. “Whatever.” I start walking. “Let’s just go to Hogsmeade.”

Me and F/n hadn’t had to wait too long for Jimin and his friends to walk into the Three Broomsticks. Their group of friends was an odd one. A mix of all the Hogwarts houses and most of them from different years. The youngest one of all was a fifth year in Ravenclaw. We’d had a few classes so I knew he went by the name Jungkook. The others though, I only knew because of Quidditch. With the exception of Yoongi, whom I’d seem quite a few times in the common room. The seven of them came toward our table and sat down.

F/n introduced herself. She gave me a pointed look when I didn’t say anything. “I’m Y/n,” I said quietly. I just want to go back to my bed. Everyone began talking and making conversation. F/n got along great with the two Hufflepuffs as was expected. They all talked to each other while I sat back and drank my butterbeer. I moved my mug around, watching as the foam moved atop the golden drink. When I looked back up I saw that Jimin had been staring at me. My cheeks flushed red as I looked back down at my drink.

“I’m gonna go on a walk with Y/n,” said Jimin, rising from his seat. My head shot up to look at him with wide eyes. He walked around the table until he was standing next to me. He grabbed my wrist, pulling me out of the wooden chair. I stumbled to my feet as Jimin dragged me away from the group. People watched as he lead me out of the Three Broomsticks and down the main street. Other students as well as villagers stared at us. Jimin was giving of an energy I couldn’t quite place. All I knew is that it made me want to sink into the floor. He pulled me into a small alley behind a store.

He turned to face me. His eyes seemed to pierce into my soul as he got nearer to me with each of his steps. He stopped right in front of me and I could feel his warm breath fanning my face. “You care to explain to me Y/n?” I looked at him in confusion.

“Wh-what?”

“Don’t pretend,” he said and for the first time ever, Jimin wasn’t smiling at me. His gaze was hard, unwavering, while I struggled with the smallest bit of eye contact. “Whenever I’m around you, you go quiet. You ignore me and everyone else around you.” I gulped hard. I felt like I was being scolded by my mother. A feeling of regret, sadness, anger, and disappointment making the feeling of breathing a lot heavier. “I try to talk to you but you always block me off. I came today in hopes that when you were with your friend you’d be more open with me,” he said. He stood up straight and turned to face the other side of the ally. He leaned his forehead against the stone wall and ran a hand through his hair.

I took this moment where he was silent to speak up. “If you’d only take a hint, you’d know that I don’t want you to talk to me,” I say. “Oh, and that thing you call talking. I consider it flirting and seeing as you do it with everybod-”

He turned to me and slammed me against the wall, while making sure my head didn’t hit it. His hands moved so that they were on either side of my head. Any confidence I had in me when I had been speaking dissipated and I shrunk lower against the wall. Jimin’s head followed mine as he maintained eye level. He leaned in closer until his lips were against my jaw. “Do you see me doing this with anyone else?” I froze under him. He nipped at my skin. “Hm? Do you?” I shook my head while my throat let out a whimper.

“I’ve liked you ever since you arrived at this school. I tried to talk to you, to get closer to you,” he said, pressing his body against mine “But you were always so damn focused on studying.” He bit the side of my neck. I let out a gasp of surprise and squirmed away from him. But Jimin wasn’t having it. He let out a low growl as his hands flew to my hips, holding me in place. “Sorry for acting like this, but I can’t help it. Not when you’ve blocked me out for so long.”

His forehead fell against my shoulder and his nose brushed against my collar bone. He sucked in a deep breath, followed by a sigh. “I’ve liked you for so long and tried to show you for so long that I don’t know what to do anymore. If you just don’t like me back then you could’ve just said so a long time ago,” he mumbles into my skin. When he looks up at me, his eyes shine. Making it look like there were tears in his eyes. The thought broke my heart.

“I’m so sorry Jimin,” I said, placing my hands on his shoulders. “I do like you. So so much. Somehow. Through all that ignoring and trying to get you away, I fell for you. I fell so hard that I couldn’t bring myself to speak to you like a normal person.” The older Slytherin looked up at me. His arms were wrapped around me and he straightened up so he could face me. He was now so close that our noses nearly touched.

“You really like me back?” he asks, eyes looking into mine. I nod, assuring him that what I said wasn’t a lie. “Um, can I kiss you?” For the first time, I looked into his eyes without breaking eye contact. I nodded and Jimin leaned in closer than he already was, until our lips touched. The kiss seemed to go on forever. Our lips dancing together in synchronisation. My hands ran through Jimin’s silver hair. When we pulled away for oxygen, our moment together was stopped as we heard our friends calling for us. “Should we continue this later?” asks Jimin.

“Only if I get to call you mine and you get to call me yours.” I smirked at him. “Will you be my boyfriend?”

A smile etched it’s way onto Jimin’s lips. “I thought you would never ask.” He took a step back, intertwining our fingers as he led me out to find the rest.

You were in California for the American leg of the tour

Jin had convinced management to let him go out for a little in a baseball cap and sunglasses to walk the Santa Monica pier with you.

“Look let’s sit here for a minute (y/n)” he walked over to a bench for two overlooking the ocean

“It’s so beautiful jinie” you laid your head on his shoulder

“Not as beautiful as you baby,” he said trying to get you to laugh at his cheesy remark

“Shut up,” you said

Suddenly it all hit you

You were marrying the love of your life and were travelling the world with the one person you wanted to see it with

Your eyes started watering

You were so happy and you couldn’t believe it

Most of your life you had believed that you were unlovable and were going to die sad, but there you were happy and in love

Jin noticed you were quiet and looked to see a steady stream falling from your eyes as you looked out to the distance

“Are you okay (y/n)” he asked in a quiet soothing voice trying not to disturb you

“Yeah.” you went quiet for a moment trying to put your bliss into words “I’m just so happy to be here with you.”

His whole world would explode

He died, his heart would just burst because he loved you so much

“I-” he would get choked up “Love you too” he would kiss your hair and you two would stay there for a while looking out into the ocean and seeing the sunset

You both were in Paris on vacation for once

He was telling you a story from his childhood and you started laughing which made him laugh which made you laugh harder because he rarely laughed

You both were now in a corner laughing

You looked around you and realized how crazy your life was

You were living a dream and you didn’t even notice

You started tearing up both from realization and from laughing too much

He would wipe away your tears and smile giving you a quick peck

“Awwww Yoongi my heart can’t handle you” you would say as he opened the door to the cafe

He had been on tour for months now and you two had talked every day through all the platforms you had

He decided to come home early and surprise you

You were walking to your shared apartment from work that had been so empty lately when you felt someone grab your hand

Your first instinct was to scream but he spoke before you could

“Hey (y/n) what are we having for dinner today” he gave you his gummy smile

“Hobi” you dropped your bag and jumped on him hugging him suddenly you started balling “I missed you so much bab-don’t-you can’t leave me ever again.” you were sobbing now

“(y/n) sweetie I’m back I haven’t forgotten my baby-”

“Shut up hoseok I will kick you.” you said “you’re not allowed to talk for the next hour while a process the fact that you’re back”

He laughed hugging you hard before letting go and picking up your bags

You both walked to your home in silence while you held hi free hand and periodically told him how mad you were that he left and how he wasn’t allowed to leave your sight ever again

Namjoon

You two were getting lunch in between one of his meetings

“Wow this is good here try some” he scooped  some noodles on to your plate

You laughed at how he managed to make  a mess

“You’re so clumsy.” he gave you a fake pout

“Aww that’s what makes you so charming,”  you said teasing

“I thought it was the dimples,”  he said pointing at both of them while smiling at you with his eyes closed

“Let’s call it even and say it’s everything about you” you were being corny but that’s what you loved to do in moments like this.

“You’re so corny.” he laughed

“You love it.” you continued eating

Both of you left the place when he got a call

“Ohh it got cancelled” he made a stern face as if they could see him. “Oh no I understand I’ll just take the day off you can tell the team to prep but go home otherwise”

“Did you hear? You’re stuck with me all day.” you hugged his arm as you continued strolling.

You both were quiet and enjoyed your surroundings as you so rarely got to do.

You noticed that the leaves were starting to wilt signalling that fall was approaching. It was the perfect weather, warm but not too hot and humid but not muggy. The streets weren’t crowded as it was the middle of the workday and most had returned to their jobs

You spotted a schoolyard where it seemed to be recessed and caught the eye of a young girl with jet black hair

She was holding a rose and a boy kissed her on her cheek

He was looking at the scene happening before your eyes

“If we ever had a daughter you can bet your bottom I wouldn’t let any boy give her a flower.”

You looked up at him “Really I thought it reminded me of us and how you always bring me flowers.”

“I’ll always bring you flowers.” he was being soft

“Even if we’re eighty and shipped to a retirement home?”

“No, we’d never be in a retirement home. I’ll build you the biggest garden in all of Korea and fill it with roses and gardenias. Every day I’ll pick one and bring it to you with my cane and my robot who will walk for me as I complain about it being too slow” He was so genuine and sweet that you couldn’t take it.

“I’ll yell at the robot too and I’m sure all the maids will be scared.” he chuckled at your joke

“ I’ll stay with you forever,” he said

“I don’t need forever if I have you.” you hadn’t even noticed but a tear fell down your eye.

“It doesn’t matter if you're getting forever.” he completed your thought as he wiped away the tear.  you both continued walking

As you entered the restaurant he was recognized by a group of fans

This was a normal occurrence when he wasn't wearing sunglasses or a mask both of which he left at home

You were standing behind him and kindly asked for a table for two

You both ate your dinner in silence

Jimin had been so busy lately and was answering emails the entire time and with many failed attempts of getting his attention you gave up and ate in silence

You both left the restaurant and were walking back when you decided to skip your home and continue on

 He followed you not noticing you had missed your home being too concentrated on his phone

You put on a pair of headphones and the first song that came on was space cowboy by Kacey Musgraves(go stream that shit)

You looked at the trees in the nighttime sky and fell into thought as the only country song you had on your playlist played

Soon you felt a couple of tears welt in your eyes as his hand wrapped around your waist

“Hey honey, I’m sorry things have been crazy at work” he started talking looking ahead not having noticed yet

You took out your headphones and looked up at your boyfriend looking at his surroundings for the first time that night

You kept on walking looking down at the pavement letting yourself blend into the background hoping things would get better

It had been a bad week, no it had been a terrible week

The work environment was terrible and you had taken on overtime due to lack of staff meaning the two of you had seen each other even less than usual

You were walking yeontan with him now that the week was finally over

“So how was your week I feel like we haven’t talked at all,” he asked holding onto your hand and the leash on the other as you rested your head on his shoulder

“Not so great, works been overwhelming lately,” you responded

“Tell me about it, we have the comeback in the works again even though we just had one and so many shows” he sighed

“I hate this.” you sighed back

“Me too I wish sometimes that I could leave it all behind” he paused “but then I remember how blessed I am to have the opportunity I have.” he looked down at you

“It’s tough though, I mean it’s selfish but I-I don’t get to see you for months at a time and you never get a break. I don’t know, sometimes I wish that for you too” you were in a bad pessimistic mood

“I know but we can’t think like that,”  he replied in a calm tone

“Why? I’m so tired tae, so tired.” you started tearing up and then full-on crying

He immediately  wrapped you in his arms letting you cry it out in the middle of the street

Jungkook

You were walking around the stadium the group was going to be performing in the next day going from level to level exploring with him

You got to the top floor and sat down on the top chairs

You lean your head on his shoulder

“Damn babe I’m so proud of you, this place is huge.”

“I know it’s kinda scary” his eyes were sparkling in excitement

“I’m gonna be screaming the loudest out of all these people.” he laughed as you waved your hands around imitating the crowd

You started laughing too

“I’m not so sure about that (y/n) they can  be pretty loud” you raised an eyebrow

“Watch me” you stood up feeling a little scared because of how high you were

You breathed in closing your eyes preparing to yell as loud as you could.

“I LOVE JEON JUNGKOOK MORE THAN ANYONE!”  the words echoed through the empty stadium causing you to duck in embarrassment seeing all the staff look up to figure out who was screaming scared it was a sasaeng

Jungkook was wheezing and turning red from laughing causing you to laugh along with him

“I’ll do it better than you watch” he said through laughs

“No don’t kookie they’re gonna yell at us” you tugged on his jacket

He looked down at you with a devious smile

“I LOVE Y/N MORE THAN ANYONE IN THE WORLD!” the words echoed throughout the stadium louder than yours

You both started laughing again

“SHUT UPPPPP” you heard jin scream from one of the lower levels

This caused both of you to laugh ten times as hard

“I think everyone knows now” he laughed  wiping them away

not to burden you or nuffin but you were my intro to kpop n it’s kinda hard tell the diff between artists who support lgbt causes(which is great) and artist who are affected by homophobia I think any artist who steps out for us is brave regardless of their orientation and/or identity, and then it’s frustrating how so many many of them have to be subtle, regardless of their talent.. I’m lightly buzzed not sure where the was goin w this but, it’s a bad feel to not be able to help ppl u care for..

Very few artists publicly support lgbt causes because, publicly, they really can’t. Literally. You wanna know how homophobic Korea is? A couple of idols posted about the Pulse nightclub shooting when it happened and got SO MUCH hate they had to delete their posts (I do believe one of them was someone from BTS so thx for that at least). People said gross, hateful, things -in fact I remember that hurt me to my soul where someone basically said they hate gay people more than they hate killers so they were happy that it happened.

There have been a few statements of support here and there. There’s a really great posts with a collection of those rare moments on here somewhere. I’m happy to say SNSD have been GREAT about this. Taeyeon, especially.

Amber Liu is the ONLY idol that has been really publicly allying for the lgbtq community. Of course, many will say “she’s not an ally, she’s queer” but still to this day no one knows that for sure. So, what that speaks to is the other part of your message about idols who are affected by the homophobia. There are MANY that people suspect are queer and they’ll never come out because it will be career suicide but also their family and friends are likely homophobic because it’s part of the culture (not automatically homophobic, just likely homophobic).

One bright spot is a new idol named Holland. He’s gay :) He’s very much out and proud. He’s making steamy mvs where he’s making out with boys and being sassy on lives. He’s great, never heard his music but I definitely wish him all the best. I worry for him, too, though.

I do believe that a couple artists have performed at pride events. I wanna say, specifically, mamamoo and BoA but don’t quote me.

Sure you’re busy cause of school, but we still see each other when we can. I can’t believe I got the coolest and smallest best friend. Even when you spent a whole day with me and my family at a trampoline park almost 2 hours from our house because I didn’t want to be third wheeling anyone. My thoughts on... Titanfall 2 (Single Player)

Wow. I have almost forgotten what a good (short of great) single-player campaign looked like in a multiplayer-driven first-person shooter. Emphasis on the multiplayer-driven part as the Titanfall series, much like the Call of Duty and Battlefield series, is designed around providing a satisfying online multiplayer experience that can be successfully monetized beyond its initial release via microtransactions. Nobody really buys these types of games for their single-player campaigns, which are often short and uninspired, like the original Titanfall’s or Destiny’s. In some cases, there may not even be one, as was the case with EA’s 2015 reboot of Star Wars: Battlefront. My fondest memories of Pandemic’s Battlefront 2 wasn’t its single-player campaign (good as it was) but playing Galactic Conquest with my brother or queueing up a list of different maps and modes in Instant Action matches against AI (and sometimes against each other). We played hundreds of hours without ever getting into multiplayer and our dedication was rewarded, not just by keeping tabs on our progression, but by unlocking special abilities or bonuses the better we got (still without ever touching multiplayer). That’s good value for money. Thus, in my case, more than the lack of a single-player campaign, it was this lack of multiple single-player/co-op modes that was the real deal-breaker, both with 2015′s Battlefront and 2014′s Titanfall. I simply did not see enough content worth $60 for someone who doesn’t play multiplayer like me, what explains why I ended up getting Battlefront for $10 almost a year later and after they’d reluctantly patched in Skirmish. Titanfall 2′s single-player alone still doesn’t justify spending $60 on it (to this day it lacks other robust single-player/co-op content), but it certainly makes a good case for spending more than the $10 I did on Battlefront.

The first Titanfall

Titanfall was developed by Respawn, veteran Call of Duty developers, who wanted to create a more fast-paced shooter around the concept of advanced movement flexibility thanks to a combination of parkour elements and a jetpack that allowed for vertical action. Not content just with that, they threw in pilotable (and customizable) mechs, called Titans, for good measure. These elements combined managed to successfully deliver on the promise of an intense and fast-paced first-person shooter that was unlike anything in the market at the time (and something Call of Duty would later try to emulate with Infinite Warfare). It was well-received critically (to this day it holds a Metascore of 86, if you care about those things) and even got me playing multiplayer for a while, though it’s not like I had much of a choice in the matter.

The game did feature a campaign, of sorts, or what Respawn assumed would pass for one, stitching multiplayer matches with a few slides and voiceover narration. I can barely remember any of it (except for that level where you get to storm a stronghold in force), that’s how memorable it was. Like I said, you were simply dropped in different multiplayer matches where you had to complete the objective while a bunch of random people chat over the com dumping a bunch of exposition on you. Of course, I never got half of what they were talking about over the sound of explosions and gunfire but the game didn’t seem to care. Titanfall’s campaign was, ultimately, entirely forgettable, something that should have surprised no one ever considering what Vince Zampella, one of the founders of Respawn Entertainment, had previously said in an interview with GamesIndustry in 2013:

"We make these single-player missions that take up all the focus of the studio, that take a huge team six months to make, and players run through it in 8 minutes," Zampella said. "And how many people finish the single-player game? It's a small percentage. It's like, everyone plays through the first level, but 5 percent of people finish the game. Really, you split the team. They're two different games. They're balanced differently, they're scoped differently. But people spend hundreds of hours in the multiplayer experience versus 'as little time as possible rushing to the end' [in single-player]. So why do all the resources go there? To us it made sense to put it here. Now everybody sees all those resources, and multiplayer is better. For us it made sense."

The man does have a point. In a multiplayer-driven gaming experience, the multiplayer component needs to be as robust as possible, so it makes more sense to divert resources towards ensuring this rather than towards crafting a single-player campaign that will, more often than not, end up quite short of being worth $60 at launch. Unfortunately, the multiplayer side of the equation didn’t fare a whole lot better.

While Titanfall had issues with team balancing and progression, among others (arguably, not enough game modes), it was the continuous release of DLC Map Packs fragmenting an increasingly smaller community (at least on PC) that hastened the game’s end. If this sounds familiar, it’s because Battlefront, incidentally another EA property, made the exact same mistake two years later and paid for it dearly. Like I explained in the beginning, multiplayer first-person shooters are specifically designed for sustained play and support for upwards of a year, hopefully two. Selling a good deal many copies at launch is great, keeping your playerbase invested six months down the line is not only better, it’s the goal in the first place. In many ways, it was now up to Titanfall’s sequel to prove that the franchise could live up to its potential and more. It did... and it didn’t.

Titanfall returns

I’m thoroughly underqualified to talk about Titanfall 2′s multiplayer component, not least of why because I haven’t played it yet, and I’m not entirely sure I will. In fact, the only reason I got to play Titanfall 2 at all was because EA recently added it to The Vault and, seeing as I have Origin Access and given all the positive things I’d heard about the game, I decided to give it a shot. I don’t regret that decision one bit and I’m actually pondering whether to get it outside my subscription. The best single-player campaigns in multiplayer first-person shooters are, to my mind, those that successfully accomplish the following objectives: a) get you invested in the story they’re trying to tell (great atmosphere, soundtrack, voiceover, etc.); and b) serve as a fun but challenging tutorial for the multiplayer portion of the game. Without having played multiplayer, I’m still confident in saying Titanfall 2 gets the first part right, but not the second.

Titanfall 2 follows Militia Rifleman, and Pilot-in-training, Jack Cooper, as he’s deployed on IMC’s controlled Typhon, during the 9th Fleet’s assault of the planet. The game opens with a short sequence that has your pod landing on Typhon where you join your fellow Riflemen in the mayhem that surrounds you and fight waves of enemies until a hostile Titan makes an appearance and shows you exactly how outmatched you are. In retrospect, it’s a sequence that should probably have been longer, if only to feature enemy or allied Pilots show you how much of a difference a single one of them can make on the battlefield.

It would’ve been nice to have seen some of that sweet trailer action during the opening act of the game.

As it usually goes, your fellows soldiers are killed but you’re saved in the nick of time by Captain Lastimosa, a Pilot and friend of yours (who has been training you off-the-books), and his Titan, BT-7274. Sadly, but predictably, Captain Lastimosa is mortally wounded and thus he effectively transfers command of his Titan over to you, not to mention all of the nice gadgets that come with being a Pilot, such as a cool HUD and a handy jetpack and cloak. Of course, no good deed goes unpunished, so alongside your new Pilot status you’re also obliged to complete his mission, Special Operation 217: rendezvous with fellow SRS Pilot Major Anderson and assist him in the completion of his assignment.

What follows is a series of levels where you get to practice and perfect your mad parkour skills while on foot, intercut with levels where you get to pilot your brand new Titan. This could’ve been fairly repetitive and boring but Titanfall 2 does its best to shake up the formula by introducing new gameplay mechanics in certain levels, which include the ability to time-travel as well as a tool (the ARC tool) that allows you to modify parts of your surroundings to allow progress (moving and raising platforms, activating vents, opening doors, that sort of thing). 

Naturally, my favourite level was the one where you get to time-travel (”Effect and Cause”), as you are able to explore the facility when it was still riddled with IMC troops and scientists and compare it against its present sorry state. It’s one of the most heavily-ladden platforming levels of the game (the one with the ARC tool being the other) as you’re forced to navigate between timelines in order to make your way through the facility. This time-travelling mechanic also gives you the neat ability to “evade” your enemies, move right behind them in the alternate timeline, and easily dispatch them. The game tries to counter this, at times, by overwhelming you with enemies in both timelines. Furthermore, you don’t get to keep your handy cloak while you’re using the time-traveling gizmo. Time-travel is however, restricted to this one level so it never outstays its welcome, but it kinda makes you wish you could keep it a little longer.

Neat toy! I was reminded of Timeshift.

The ARC tool is later introduced in “The Beacon,” a level that is split in two halves. On the one half, you are tasked with finding this tool in an underground facility in order to activate an antenna dish and relay a message to Militia HQ. This is the half where you’ll most use the ARC tool, not to mention your maddening Pilot moves that seem to impress your fellow Militia riflemen. The second half takes place outside this bunker, in a facility suspended in mid-air that heavily reminded me of Cloud City. This was, for me, one of the toughest fights (on Hard) as you have to be constantly on the move evading that one Reaper that is far too intent on killing you. The platforming however, is nowhere near as dangerous and you’re still fighting grunts when I was eager to test my skills against enemy Pilots. Unfortunately, those never seem to come out of their Titans. 

Curiously, my second toughest encounter on Hard was against a flying Titan during the level, “The Ark,” yet another great map that spices things up by featuring a high-speed chase of a dreadnought and introduces fellow Pilots. This could be attributed to a poor choice of loadout as I didn’t find much of a spike in difficulty between Regular and Hard. In fact, I would sometimes check that the difficulty hadn’t somehow reverted to Regular. On the other hand, I did just blaze through the levels while on Regular, not giving a damn about cover or correctly using my Titan’s abilities, something that I obviously didn’t repeat on Hard. As a matter of fact, I’m surprised I decided to up the difficulty at all as I usually play games for the story (what little there may be of it) rather than the challenge (to be fair, most developers nowadays seem to confuse difficulty with turning enemies into damage-sponges, something I’m not particularly keen on). Still, if you’re at all skilled in competitive first-person shooters, I recommend you play this on Hard or Master even, though I cannot vouch for the difficulty of the latter yet.

Good as its campaign is, Titanfall 2 is not without its faults. While the level design does provide variety, in retrospect I find that it doesn’t really encourage you to switch to the many different weapons lying around. Indeed, I found myself using a Flatline throughout most of the game, at times switching to a similar IMC weapon when I ran out of ammo. Granted, I would use a sniper rifle every now and then to snipe foes from afar but purely out of convenience. You can easily breeze through the game sticking to the same loadout. The same goes for your Titan’s loadouts. They’re nice in that they add variety and allow you to explore the different customizations you’ll no doubt encounter in multiplayer (and they help you unlock specific achievements), but you can easily dispatch (most) enemies with a single loadout. There is no strategy, no reason to study an enemy Titan’s loadout and figure out which of your own will best neutralize it, something that I think would’ve benefited the campaign immensely. There may be a few situations where it would be better to favour one over another, such as using the Sniper loadout when your fellow Pilots are engaging enemy Titans, such as in “Trial by Fire,” but you can still make do with any of the others.

Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of Titanfall 2′s campaign is the lack of Pilot vs. Pilot action. I mentioned earlier that the lack of enemy (or even allied) Pilots in the first level is, to my mind, a mistake, as it would serve to show the gulf between the Militia’s riflemen and a fully-trained Pilot. Sure, the game does its best to highlight how much of a badass you are, especially during the last level where you’re given the smart pistol (the mother of all godmodes) and are unleashed on the enemy soldiers, but I can’t help thinking it would be more satisfying if you were to engage, from time to time, with enemy Pilots (outside of their Titans). Can you imagine what a parkour chase of an enemy Pilot would’ve looked like, while maybe using the smart pistol to get rid of the grunts shooting at you? Unfortunately, no one is even remotely your equal, within the Titan or without. Even the friendly Pilots who are (briefly) featured in “The Ark” are fairly ineffective when compared to you, taking their sweet time to neutralize enemies. I realize Titanfall 2′s campaign is a power fantasy designed to make you feel vastly superior to your enemies but it could’ve used more challenging enemies every now and again.

I talked a bit about gameplay and level design but what did I think of the story? I actually liked it. Look, I’ve watched more movies, played more games, and read more books than I care to admit, so there’s very little that will surprise me in any of these mediums nowadays. However, it isn’t the surprise of discovering what will happen next that entices me (it’s usually fairly predictable) but how it will happen. Will it feel organic or forced? Is it a natural progression or something artificially created what will no doubt take me out of the experience? Titanfall 2′s story explores the bond between a Pilot and its Titan, sort of “a boy and his robot” kind of story. We expect the two to grow more attached throughout the game, to the point we no longer see BT as a robot but as a friend. There’s some funny back-and-forth between the two, moreso as you’ll be sometimes given a couple of dialogue options to choose from that alternate betwen professional and sarcastic. Throw in a couple of tear-jerkers for good measure and you have a solid foundation for a great human/robot partnership that reinforces their bond and the theme that a Titan chooses its Pilot.

Given the length of the campaign (it took me 8 hours to finish but some people have completed in 5), I think Titanfall 2 did a great job, especially when compared to single-player campaigns in other multiplayer first-person shooters that absolutely fail to get us invested in their characters. I think it highlights EA’s recent (maybe even reluctant) commitment to crafting better, more immersive, single-player campaigns in these types of games, as we have also seen in Battlefield 1 and will continue to see in Battlefront 2. It’s a welcome change, certainly, as more content for our money is always a positive, but we would do well to remember they will never become the main selling point and they really shouldn’t. 

Titanfall 2 is fairly replayable, if only to test yourself in a higher difficulty, collect all the Pilot helmets spread throughout the levels, and revisit your adventures with BT, but even then we’re talking about a total playtime of, at best, 20 hours (in my case), and as little as 10 or less (for more experienced players). Like I mentioned at the beginning, it’s not worth $60 for the single-player campaign alone, what makes an interesting case for splitting the single-player campaign from the multiplayer and market both at different price points; say, for instance, $20 for the single-player and $40 for the multiplayer (or $15/$45). I think more people would be willing to part with their money at launch if they could pick and choose what content they want to play.

Conclusions

Titanfall 2 gets the single-player campaign just about right, and makes a better case for a sequel than its predecessor ever did. It is therefore a shame that it hasn’t gained the traction it deserves, but there’s nobody to blame here other than EA. Poorly marketed and released in October (the previous Titanfall had been released in March), barely a week after Battlefield 1 and another week before Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Titanfall 2 was faced with an uphill battle that it eventually lost. Not even Respawn’s (smart) move to get rid of the season pass was enough to entice potential buyers. It’s a pity, it truly is, but I for one will be on the lookout for Titanfall 3 and the continuing adventures of Pilot Jack Cooper and BT-7274. Until we meet again!

BTS You Never Walk Alone - Spring Day MV Theory: The Untold Story

Whose story is often unheard and untold?

The Discriminated… The Minorities…

When Kim Namjoon said You Never Walk Alone was the Untold Story… He wasn’t kidding. BigHit has done it again! Though this MV also fit the story of the boys’ journey, they still managed to discuss an underlying controversial issue.

SYMBOLISMS:

1.     OMELAS: DISCRIMINATION OF THE WEAK

In case you haven’t read the story… Here is a rundown

First of all, let me say, this story is riveting in both its simplicity and complexity; and you could finish it in less than 15 minutes. The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas is an award winning short story written by Ursula Le Guin. The story starts with the narrator describing a utopian place called Omelas as the Summer Festival starts. Everything about the city is idealistic and the narrator even invites the reader to imagine his/her own utopian scenario and imagine that to be Omelas because Omelas’ perfection and happiness was hard to simply describe. The narrator claims that the people of Omelas were not stupid, that this was not the reason why they were happy, but he also states that the people of Omelas lived without guilt.

As vague and hard as it was for the narrator to describe Omelas, her description of the small, frail impoverished child was vivid. People of Omelas knew about the child’s existence, locked in a small basement but none of them helped or saved the child. The narrator believes that the child served as reminder for the people of a world opposite to what they have. The absence of the child makes what they have pointless and therefore the child’s existence was poignant for their system.

The more incredible part though, the part that got the narrator amazed, were the people who left Omelas. Those who chose to walk alone away from the surfaced perfection toward the unknown when they have seen the child.

In the MV you can see how their initial excitement of being in Omelas slowly changed. As if taking in what Omelas truly was. 

Kookie goes to the desolate Omelas where ironically the No Vacancy sign was still lit. Like how minorities are refused entry when clearly there is still room. 

In the end, unlike in the book where the citizens who face the realities of Omelas left alone, they all left Omelas together.

2.     Snow Piercer: DISCRIMINATION OF THE CLASSES

Snowpiercer was a movie released in 2013. in the movie, the world was set into an infernal winter after an experiment to solve global warming backfires. The remaining survivors were those on board the Snowpiercer. By 2031, segregation was eminent. Elites inhabit the extravagant front cars and the “scum” inhabit the tail in squalid and brutal conditions. Under watch by guards, they are brought only gelatinous protein bars to eat and kept in their place in the social order by Minister Mason, while sometimes small children are taken away.

Kinda Hunger Games-ish huh?

Rebellion broke out because it seemed like the oppressed have finally had enough. Many died due to the rebellious attacks and the head of the keeper of the peace for the Snowpiercer told the leader of the revolution that it was he who planned the rebellion to reduce the population and maintain the balance of the sealed ecosystem, and subsequently orders the elimination of 74% of the remaining tail passengers. He explains the importance of using fear and chaos to maintain a necessary order and leadership on the train.

The leader of the revolution almost accepted the offer of the head peace keeper to lead what remained of the Snowpiercer but decided to continue the fight when he learned that small children from the tail section are being trapped as replacement parts for “extinct” machinery and that those in the tail section were literally being kept alive for spare parts.

In the end, an explosion happens that causes an avalanche. The train gets derailed and only two survive, one girl and one boy. They alight the train and see a polar. They learn that life was actually possible outside the oppressive train.

In the MV, Kookie and RM is shown riding the train but they keep entering the doors at the back. The train traverses a snowy terrain.

When the line stops, they all go down together and see a dying tree amidst a grassy field. It was the only semblance of life present, but it was enough to hang their shoe on it and mark the place as theirs.

3.     Safety Pin Earrings: FIGHT AGAINST DISCRIMINATION

“#Safetypin I’m an ally… All those exposed to hate and violence, you’re not alone….”

No, it’s not a fashion statement, there is a deeper meaning.

4.     Laundromat/ Segregation: RACIAL DISCRIMINATION

Honestly, where else can the term segregation be used that seems publicly acceptable?

Whites separated from colored.

This reminded me of a racial case I studied in law school, Yick Wo vs Hopkins 118 U.S. 356 (1886) (Who the F? would have thought I’d use that shit here?) 

The immigration of Chinese to California began in 1850 at the beginning of the Gold Rush. As the Chinese became more successful, tensions with Americans grew. Californians were wary of the cultural and ethnic differences.

Yick Wo, was a laundry facility owned by Sang Lee. After twenty years of owning the facility as an undocumented immigrant, provisions set out by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors said that he could not continue to run his business due to an ordinance that was evidently racially targeted against all Chinese business owners.

This case was the first case where the United States Supreme Court ruled that a law that is race-neutral on its face, but is administered in a prejudicial manner, is an infringement of the Equal Protection Clause in the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

In the MV you can see that the blacks and whites inside were mixed. Whites, Blacks, toss it in! They’re one and the same.

5.     Mountain of Clothes: ALL EQUAL!

In 2010, Christian Boltanski created a 40-foot-tall art installation at the Park Avenue Armory.

For Boltanski, clothes are simply a placeholder for 6000 real human beings who lived real lives. He told a journalist, “In my work there have always been a lot of photos of people, heartbeats of people—for me the clothing are people.” The magnitude of the pile illustrates the heaviness of all the hearts now lost.

In this work, Boltanski said that the mountain was an eternal afterlife of sorts, where every individual rests after death. In Boltanski’s view, we are all mixed together in death, no longer the distinct individuals we were in life. We become part of a great pile, individual pieces that have lost their minute details — a single, colossal entity.

This piece of art has been made in various cities all over the world.

BTS made themselves part of this mountain, a symbol of unity in lives lost due to discrimination.

6.     Nods to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy: INJUSTICE

So many questions about these shoes. What I know… Jimin picked it up from the shore… and looked pale, kinda like he drowned.

It could honestly have so many meanings…

But given that this is an injustice close to their hearts, they might be giving nods to the Sewol Ferry tragedy.

The Sewol Ferry was a passenger ferry that capsized on 16 April 2014, killing 304 of the 476 people on board. More than 300 passengers were Danwon High School pupils on an organised trip, but only 75 students survived.

Months later, the captain of the ferry escaped the death penalty and has instead been sentenced to 36 years in jail for his role in the tragedy. 

Prosecutors had demanded the death penalty and before the trial even started, President Park Geun-hye made a public statement condemning the crew’s action, saying that their decision to abandon ship had been “tantamount to murder”. The sentence means that the captain, aged 69, is likely to spend the rest of life in jail. In protest, friends and families of the victims laid out the shoes of the victims along with yellow cards and ribbons. 

In December 2016, it was brought to light that 9000 artists were discriminated and blacklisted for criticizing the government and having a dissenting opinion in the Sewol case. In January, media leaked that Bangtan and Bighit donated money to the families of the Sewol family victims.

In the end of the video, Jimin is again looking sullen and holding the shoes.He was looking at the tree as if deciding what to do with it.

Another symbolism with a lot of interpretations in the video is the “shoes on the wire”. One other possible meaning for this is to give honor to the memory of a life lost.

7. The Yellow Ribbon: Symbol of Hope and Unity

The yellow ribbon has been used as a symbol of hope all over the world for a multitude of causes. From the desire for the return of American hostages held in Tehran between 1979 and 1981 to a fight against a dictatorship from a 21 year long regime in the Philippines in 1986. 

The L finger symbol stood for the Filipino word “LABAN” which means FIGHT

For some it became a symbol of home coming and being reunited, hence the famous English song with lines that go, “Tie a yellow ribbon round the old oak tree”. It symbolizes the hope of freedom, justice and return. This yellow ribbon has held different meanings to different groups of people but in all those times, it served one purpose, to be a symbol of unity for those part of a cause.

In South Korea, the yellow ribbon started as a symbol of hope for the return of 9 missing children from the Sewol Ferry Tragedy but it slowly grew to be more than that. It served as a reminder that the families that sought justice did not stand alone. The government slowly saw this as a symbol of rebellion and defiance. In truth, it sent a silent but unified message against the people who were the source of the injustice committed. 

In the MV, you see Kookie having sole awareness (my obnoxious way of saying he was dead ass staring at the camera) while everyone was a moving blur.

After a while, he seemed to slowly realize that everyone else was moving around him and he joins the crowd.

Two possible meanings. First, the pessimistic view, is that Kookie was the one aware of the issues but no one else was. Everyone else was going about their own business and eventually Kookie joined the crowd…

The second possible meaning? The one I prefer. The more optimistic view, is that due to the movement of everyone around him, Kookie became aware of the need to move and act and joined the movement for the yellow ribbon cause.

Though sometimes you feel like you stand alone in the crowd fighting for something… look around, look closely… there are more people who understand your plight. Never stop moving. Eventually, if your cause is truly powerful, more people will move with you.

CONCLUSION!

Bangtan’s message was clear. For those who suffered injustice or have been discriminated against for being part of a minority, we know your untold stories. Your road may be unknown but YOU NEVER WALK ALONE

From the Book: The Ones who Walk Away from Omelas

Each one goes alone, youth or girl man or woman. Night falls; the traveler must pass down village streets, between the houses with yellow-lit windows, and on out into the darkness of the fields. Each alone, they go west or north, towards the mountains. 

“They go on. They leave Omelas, they walk ahead into the darkness, and they do not come back. The place they go towards is a place even less imaginable to most of us than the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. It is possible that it does not exist. But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.”
